Italian Redemptoristines’ meeting at Magliano Sabina
On October 19 – 23, 2018 the fourth meeting of the Italian Monasteries took place at the Redemptorist community of Magliano Sabina. The monasteries represented were: Scala, S. Agata de ‘Goti, Foggia and Magliano Sabina. The meeting was opened on the 19th by the Provincial of the Redemptorists of Rome, Fr. Gianni Congiu, who gave a reflection on the Gospel passage of ‘the rich young man’ and exhorted us to be courageous in leaving our “riches” and convictions in order to look for unity of the heart and communion with God, and with each other.
The following two days were given to deepening the study the Cor Orans, and the application Instruction to the Constitution Vultum Dei Querere, through the conferences of Fr. Sebastiano Paciolla. Fr. Paciolla is a canonist of the Cistercian Order and Sub-Secretary of the Congregation for Consecrated Life and one of the authors of this document. We were thus given explanations to our questions and received many clarifications on the subjects dealt with. The Bishop of Sabina-Poggio Mirteto, H.E. Ernesto Mandara, by his presence and greetings, assured us of his closeness, support and encouragement in the steps we are taking.
On the 21st – 22nd, we also had the joy of listening to our Redemptorist Confrere from the Roman province, Fr. Vincenzo La Mendola’s input on discernment.
The last day was dedicated to meeting each other, sharing ideas, proposals, fears and hopes for the future of our communities and of the whole Order in the light of our charism and especially of the Gospel of Christ.
